The Great North Thrift Store isn’t just a place to buy used outdoor gear—it’s a space where purpose meets community, and every purchase fuels something bigger.

We were created with a simple but powerful goal: to support Get Lost – Nature-Based Wellness & Recovery, a grassroots program in the North Okanagan that provides outdoor experiences for individuals navigating mental health and addiction challenges. When you donate or shop with us, you're helping fund life-changing activities like guided hikes, campfire circles, and peer support programs in nature.

All of our profits go directly to operational costs for Get Lost. That includes everything from activity facilitation and gear supplies to licenses, marketing, insurance, and wages for program staff. We operate with full financial transparency and follow not-for-profit principles, even though Get Lost is not currently a registered non-profit due to legislative considerations.

How It Works:

  • Donated gear is inspected, cleaned, and repaired if needed.

  • Items are either sold in the store or used directly in Get Lost programming.

  • Donors receive a discount voucher as a thank-you, and shoppers know their purchase makes a difference.

By giving used outdoor gear a second life, we’re reducing waste, making nature more accessible, and building a healthier, more connected community.

This store exists because people like you believe in change. Whether you’re donating a tent, buying boots, or spreading the word, you’re helping someone take their next step toward healing.
